Dénia, Spain · Rebuilding after the fire · Run by a working DP
Curated Soviet lenses for cinema.
Helios, Jupiter, Mir and Tair primes. Sourced in Ukraine, serviced and cine-modded in Spain, and put on a camera by a cinematographer before they go up for sale.
The glass
The glass Hollywood keeps borrowing.
Seven Soviet primes from the 1950s to the 1980s, built on Zeiss formulas and built to be taken apart. We stock the copies worth owning: clean glass, smooth focus, early serials when we can find them.
The swirl everyone tries to fake in post. Biotar formula. The early silver 13-blade copies are the ones to want; the 44-2 is the one everyone starts with.
The bokeh monster. Wide open it paints, stopped down it behaves. Early silver copies with the red П and a three-digit serial are the collector's grade.
Sonnar formula. Known in the USSR as the king of portrait lenses: soft skin, sharp eyes, round highlights at every stop.
Grand Prix at the 1958 Brussels World's Fair. A Flektogon-derived wide that still flares like it's 1958. Our silver Full Metal build starts here.
The widest Soviet prime most people have never seen. Real flares, no plugins. Rental houses keep asking for wides; this is the one.
Focuses to about 20 cm from the sensor plane and is built like a tank. The wide we put in every set.
Twenty aperture blades. Portraits with perfectly round highlights at any stop, and a long-lens compression the 85s can't give you.
П in red on a KMZ barrel means coated optics · cm-marked focal lengths (8.5cm) are the earliest production · every copy we list shows its serial number
Cinemod
Preserve the character. Improve the tool.
A Soviet prime has the look. It doesn't have the handling: no gears, a tiny front thread, a hood from 1975. Our cinemod fixes the handling and leaves the optics alone. Nothing is cut, glued or re-glassed, so the lens can go back to stock in minutes.
Geared and matched
- 0.8 MOD gear rings on focus and iris
- 77mm matched front: 49→72 step-up ring and 72→77 hood
- Full CLA: cleaned, re-lubricated, adjusted
- Polished hood on silver builds, black on black
For owner-operators and mirrorless shooters who want a follow focus and one matte box size across the kit.
Machined, polished, engraved
- Machined metal 0.8 gears instead of printed rings, industry-standard pitch
- Polished metal hood with the Vintage4Film badge
- Natural anodize that matches early silver barrels
- The gear set is removable and transfers to another copy of the same lens
Built to order, singly or as matched sets. Silver on silver is the signature; black is available.
Stock copy
An attic find, untouched. No gears, a 49mm front, dry grease. Cheap, and it fights you on set.
V4F cinemod
Serviced, geared, matched fronts, optics untouched and reversible. A few hundred euros a lens.
Full rehousing
New barrel, PL mount, four figures a lens. Beautiful, permanent, and the glass inside is often the same copy we sell.

A DP who got carried away.
Vintage4Film is run by Serghei Malii, a cinematographer based on the Costa Blanca in Spain. He shoots commercials and music videos through his production company AnyAngle, and somewhere along the way the lens drawer turned into a business.
The lenses come from Ukraine, where he's from. Each copy is serviced, tested on his own cameras and listed with its serial number and every flaw named. Sets are built the way a rental house would want them, because that's who asked for them first.
Questions get answered by the person who took the lens apart. In English, Spanish, Russian or Ukrainian.
If a lens is wrong for your camera, we'll tell you before you pay.
